If you tend to get back ache, this programme is one to repeat regularly. It's designed not only to release tension, but also to strengthen the whole circumference of your core so that you build resilience for your spine for long term back health. Please refer to the pdf guide for the programme schedule. Remember that these classes are not suitable if you have acute back pain. If you have acute back pain, please consult a doctor, and wait until the pain has gone before starting this programme.

    This is a guide to the Back Care programme, including a suggested daily schedule.

  • 15-minute lower back release

    This Hatha yoga class focuses on easing your lower back, for when it's feeling achy or tense.

    Some prior experience of yoga is recommended.

    Recommended equipment: yoga mat, belt & brick (or substitutes).

  • 15 minutes for back strength

    This Hatha yoga class focuses on strengthening the back of your body, including your glutes, hamstrings and your lower and mid-back.

    Some prior experience of yoga is recommended.

    Recommended equipment: yoga mat.

  • Spine mobility

    This Hatha yoga class focuses on moving your spine in all of the directions that it moves, to keep it healthy and mobile in a balanced way. This includes forward bending, back bending, twisting, side bending and elongation.

  • 15 minutes for a strong core

    This short Hatha class focuses on strengthening your core.

    Some prior experience of yoga is recommended.

  • 15-minute back stretch

    This Hatha class focuses on stretching your back, including your upper, mid and lower back.

    Some prior experience of yoga is recommended.

    Recommended equipment: yoga mat.

  • Spine resilience

    This Hatha yoga class focuses on cultivating core strength, to stabilise your spine in all the directions that it moves so that it is resilient.

  • 15 minutes to relieve stiffness

    This Hatha class is ideal for when you are feeling stiff.

    Some prior experience of yoga is recommended.

    Recommended equipment: yoga mat
    Optional equipment: 2 x bricks & 1 x block (or substitutes).
